homeschooling, built around your child instead of a curriculum
NACD’s T.H.E. Targeted Home Education program designs a specific plan for your child: what to teach, how to teach it, and even at what speed. Less time teaching, more rapid results, and professional support standing behind you every day.

Homeschooling that’s efficient, effective, and enjoyable
NACD provides unique services to homeschoolers. With a long tradition in the active support of homeschooling, NACD helps parents make their homeschooling efficient, effective, and enjoyable. As a national organization, NACD is familiar with the laws in each state. Parents are supported in meeting state requirements, but that is not all that they are given.
NACD will design a specific plan for each child. The instruction plan includes not only suggested materials but also how to teach them and even at what speed to teach them. Based on a neuro-educational assessment of your child, the NACD staff is able to customize a program of teaching strategies that will best allow your child to make rapid advancement.
Not a school inside your home
NACD home education is individualized, dynamic, targeted, and comprehensive. It is not curriculum heavy, but curriculum specific: your child is not plugged into a packaged curriculum, the plan is built around your child.
What it is
- A plan designed for your specific child, from a neuro-educational assessment
- Parent-led: you are the key educator, and we train and coach you
- Targeted input at your child’s processing level, so learning is efficient
- A whole-child program: academics, cognition, physical development, and even chores
What it is not
- Not a virtual instruction program taught over a screen
- Not a one-size-fits-all academic plan or packaged curriculum
- Not taught by an NACD instructor: nobody replaces you
- Not a school day recreated at home. The instructional day is typically much shorter
A total program for your child’s total needs
Not only does the program address your child’s educational needs, it also provides activities to improve your child’s cognitive functioning. All areas of your child’s function are addressed, and all areas of difficulty are identified and addressed, drawing on a toolbox of more than 1,000 techniques.
A specific instruction plan
Suggested materials, how to teach them, and at what speed, matched to how your child processes information right now.
Cognitive development built in
Activities that improve processing, memory, and thinking, so your child learns everything faster, not just this year’s subjects.
Use materials you already have
Parents wanting to use instructional materials they already own are given specific strategies to maximize those materials.
Support that doesn’t stop
Phone conferences, video reviews, and a support staff standing by. Imagine picking up the phone and reaching staff who know your child’s individual needs.
State requirements handled
As a national organization, NACD is familiar with the laws in each state, and parents are supported in meeting state requirements.
Training for you
As parent and teacher, you receive training from the NACD staff so you have the skills and expertise to ensure your child receives an excellent education.
Special needs, typical, and gifted
NACD has been designing and supervising home-based developmental and educational programs since 1979, for every kind of learner: children with special needs, typical children whose parents want more than school offers, and accelerated and gifted students ready to soar.
The NACD staff fully expects a child to make progress significantly better than the child would be able to make in a school setting. What do we expect? We expect success.
