Stacey Whitten
M.A., Elementary Education

Coach

Stacey Whitten always knew as she was growing up that she wanted to work with children. Working with children with special needs during her high school summers opened her heart and mind to helping all children.

Stacey went on to study Elementary Education and Speech Communications at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. She earned her BA in Speech Communications and her MA in Elementary Education. She married her college sweetheart, Brian, and began teaching elementary school just after their wedding in the late summer of 1992.

Throughout her teaching experiences in Seguin and Pflugerville,Texas, Stacey realized that year after year, she seemed to have a special ability to reach the children that struggled with learning or attention issues. Little did she know that this was preparing her for her own child.

Brian and Stacey have been blessed with three wonderful children. Their first child, Connor, struggled with sensory integration issues and found school to be overwhelming. He ended up receiving labels of ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome, among others. Stacey brought him home after 2nd grade and became a member of NACD. Connor’s progress with his NACD Program was so amazing that when Stacey’s daughter, Emma, asked to come home after second grade, she didn’t hesitate to incorporate the guidance of NACD.

Today, Connor has dropped most of his labels. He is an amazing young man that is smart, kind, and active in his various youth groups. He has accelerated in many of his studies and volunteers regularly to help his church and his community. He is also progressing through his belts with Tae Kwon Do. Emma has also accelerated her studies. She has been able to devote time to Girl Scouts, church, horse back riding and volunteering. Stacey’s youngest, Max, has grown up surrounded by the joys of learning and the excitement of getting auditory sequences right! Stacey feels that NACD has helped and continues to help her children fulfill their greatest potential.

Stacey has had the privilege of sharing the amazing progress that NACD has provided for her children. She has shared this at seminars, home school meetings, and one-on-one with friends. She now is so pleased to expand this by joining the NACD team. She is grateful for the opportunity to guide other families as they help their own children. Stacey is excited to continue learning from the NACD staff and feels that home schooling her children and working with NACD has given her the best of both worlds.
